It’s the final version of Windows to get an “optional non-security” cumulative update. KB 4501835 brings Win10 1809 up to build 17763.439. All but one

If I remember correctly, the “optional non-security”updates are those that you can get them only by clicking “Check for updates”, right?

      I miss Windows XP...

        Right.

In Microsoft-speak “optional” means “you only get it if you manually install it, or click Check for updates.” Which still bothers me….

It is easy to understand your concern.  In Win 10, ‘Check for updates’ is a serious mislabeling issue. In Win 7 that was how the button worked but ‘checking’ is far from how it works in Windows 10. At a minimum it should be relabeled and come with a warning but the old-fashioned check seems a better system to me.

At the moment, I check for updates using Belarc Advisor.

“All but one of the fixes is for the Japanese Era bug”

I haven’t heard about Apple issuing 40 patches for MacOS and iOS to deal with the Japanese Era, nor Linux patches nor Google with Android patches.

      win10 1903 so-called 20H 18890.1000 released yesterday May 1st.

m$ is likely trying to repair the after-boot screen troubles of 18875.1000… although it has been visually repaired in 18875.1001…  also the Home Group has been officially removed from now on 🙂

WHAT!!! KB4501835 is out? not in the MS Update Catalog, woody (as of 4:45PM Wed. May 1, pacific local time)? currently 4501835 yields no results in the Catalog.

did a recent WU scan on Win10 v1809 and KB4501835 does NOT even show up – says it’s up to date and it has KB4493509 update installed.

Why sure, plain as day, the KB article says:

This update is now available for installation through WSUS.  To get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

(Don’t bother. Like you say, there’s nothing there.)

So once again we have an announced patch that doesn’t yet exist…..

it will probably be available in few hours (i guess 08:00 UTC)

in Microsoft Update Catalog, KB4501835 are labeled as follows:
              “2019-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x86-based Systems (KB4501835)”
              “2019-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4501835)”
              “2019-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for ARM64=based Systems (KB4501835)”
“2019-05 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB4501835)”

so this is labeled as a May 2019 update for 1809 (hence 2019-05), not for April 2019 like 2019-04

              Strange, isn’t it?

I wonder if it means anything, or if it’s just sloppy transcription.

I just checked for updates (Twice) nothing.

When I updated from 1803 to 1809 the update has been labeled as :

“Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809 amd64 2019-03” not as x64-based Systems . My laptop has 8th gen. Intel i7-8750H CPU.

amdx64 doesn’t refer to an AMD processor (as opposed to Intel), it has to do with the processor architecture.
