It just started rolling out. I don’t see it yet on Windows Update, but the KB article is up: March 8, 2018—KB 4092077 (OS Build 15063.936) Addresses i

Did you read this notice on the MS pages about KB 4092077? What do you suppose that means?

      Windows Update Improvements

Microsoft has released an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve reliability. Any device running Windows 10 configured to receive updates automatically from Windows Update, including Enterprise and Pro editions, will be offered the latest Windows 10 Feature Update based on device compatibility and Windows Update for Business deferral policy. This does not apply to long-term servicing editions.

        It means update components updates KB4021701 – KB4049411 – KB4073543

        and probably the UA KB4023814

Which probably means Microsoft is set up to do this forced upgrade thing, disregareing PC settings, any time it pleases in the future. Looks like they put all the groundwork in there.

          Thank goodness for Macs!!!!!

@PKCano It look like they have moved on a bit since the “Dark days” of OS 7 8-9, the “fruit of the forbidden (expensive) tree” looks more promising every day just lately.

Yeah, it’s the same warning that MS posted last month in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4077528

        From my Computerworld article:

Both the KB 4077525 (OS Build 14393.2097) Win10 1607 cumulative update article and the KB 4077528 (OS Build 15063.936) Win10 1703 cumulative update article contain this cryptic warning:

        Windows Update Improvements

Microsoft has released an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve reliability. Any device running Windows 10 configured to receive updates automatically from Windows Update, including Enterprise and Pro editions, will be offered the latest Windows 10 Feature Update based on device compatibility and Windows Update for Business deferral policy. Actually, those warnings has nothing to do with the cumulative updates themselves
it’s just to scare users that you will get separate update for update components if you skip CUs

So like always we will wait until MSDEFCON reaches an acceptable level, or we can install it right away?

also I am looking for the advice of everyone here: I won’t install version 1709, I think I will wait until the version 1803 is safe enough to install (which I hope it will be before October) so is this ok?

      • #173691

Read the text below Ms-Defcon… personally I don’t find level 3 “acceptable”, but if you do, watch out for potential problems, ie study AskWoody’s posts…

Whether or not you’ll install 1709, may not be a choice you make…

        Best of luck! 😀

        • #173743

It’s not the first time 1709 is pushed, in fact when I installed creator’s update 1709 was pushed to me, the first two months, it stopped this year.

          So I don’t fear it.

A lot of us, including myself, feel the same way. This is why Woody color codes the centers of his DEFCON shields with shades which range from red, through yellow, to green. Woody can’t use RGB since blue would be the safe color, yet green in the middle of a RGB color scheme would be interpreted by many as meaning “safe”. A CMY color scheme totally fails. I don’t see any other viable option in comparison to what Woody has chosen — a Red to Orange to Green color scheme or an RG color scheme for the DEFCON shields. And of course and to the right of the shields, Woody does provide a description for the DEFCON level.

I was hoping this patch would solve the dreadful ‘Realtek Card Reader’ uninstall requirement that can’t be satisfied in any way shape or form, short of physically detaching the device from the laptop, thus preventing an update to 1709.

This hit my Win10pro PC about 4 hours ago (action center popup). I immediately hid it with wushowhide. I’m on 1703 and want to stay there a while longer if at all possible, everything is working just fine so far. If it ain’t broke…

Hopefully PatchLady or somebody will find out what this update is all about.

Wonder whether 4072077 is “fix” for my issue here #173174

I don’t think there’s a whole lot of confidence in patching amongst the Win10 1703 crowd right now, something akin to a quote from Homers the Iliyad “beware of Greeks bearing gifts” 🙁

From my perspective, that the under statement of the year.

Group A (but Telemetry disabled Tasks and Registry)
      1) Dell Inspiron with Win 11 64 Home permanently in dock due to "sorry spares no longer made".
      2) Dell Inspiron with Win 11 64 Home (substantial discount with Pro version available only at full price)

I guess only those that blocked the kb4023057 and similar updates are apparently safe from this mess.

Issue added to February 22, 2018—KB4077528 (OS Build 15063.936): “After installing this update, some localized devices may have incorrect strings or unusual behavior in different areas of the user interface (UI) that make the UI unusable.”

      Ooops, I meant 4092077.
Well, 4092077 standalone appears to install okay, for me.
      I needed to re-hide 4023057.
      Hidden = 4023814, 4056254, 4023057 and Feature update to 1709.

      Thanks

I work at a school district. We use HP Elitebook x360’s for staff laptops. Mine has been on Win 10 1703 15063.936 and has been stable. KB4077528 was installed on 3/5.

Yesterday I was working on another x360 which had a domain membership issue. Once that was fixed it immediately started downloading the Microsoft Update Assistant. I was unable to prevent the installation with task manager. Prior to that the latest installed KB was 4074592 which put the laptop on 15063.909.  Since the assistant was installed the laptop will only access the network when connected to our wired network. No wireless…
