      Hi, I installed it and then analyzed, the update installs GWX folder in windowssystem32 folder, where GWX stands for “Get Windows X.” Inside you can find the binaries which will show you ad with the possibility to install Windows X at some later moment when Microsoft decides to activate it.

      In the first phase, the ad is not displayed. Then comes the phase “Anticipation” where the ad is displayed. Then the phase “Reservation.” The ad still displayed. Then the phase “Reserved.” The ad still displayed. Then the pahse “RTM.” The ad still displayed. The other phases during which the ad is not displayed anymore are: GA,
      UpgradeDetected,
      UpgradeDownloadInProgress,
      UpgradeDownloaded,
      UpgradeReadyToInstall,
      UpgradeReadySetupInProgress,
      UpgradeSetupCompatBlock,
      UpgradeSetupRolledBack,
      UPgradeSetupFailed,
      UpgradeSetupComplete

      I have tried to post here several times in the past two days, but can’t seem to get anything to go through. If this test posts, I’ll try to put in my findings of what this patch may be doing.

      Essentially, janko is correct. This looks like preparation for the Windows 10 upgrade being pushed out through MS Updates.

      I can’t get this to post with the link included, so here’s what I found at an online forum:

      @RC –

      Not sure why you aren’t getting through. No changes recently on our end.

      Woody —

      I suspect the link I was trying to post got rejected. Why, I can’t say.

      @RC –

      Weird. I manually approve all posts (which is why it’s so slow sometimes). There is a spam filter, but it’s very rudimentary.

      @RShady –

      That was quick. It was first released on March 27, then re-released on April 3. Huh???

      Can I delete or at least disable without messing other functions up?

      @Deb

      I’d say hide it. If it’s already installed, you can try to uninstall it, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just remember when you start getting Windows 10 update notices, it isn’t your fault.
