I’ve just this minute been offered this update. Naturally I haven’t attempted to install it.

What would we do without AskWoody and your expert lounge members.? Microsoft should embrace your work and pay you for the job they are not doing.

They really have no choice anymore but to pull stuff after it c**** out how many users PC’s? Kind of important Office is to users to have a botched update leave them hanging. I think eventually Microsoft will have botched enough stuff to force them to rethink automatic updates. It may take some time, but clearly this isn’t working.

Hm, was able to download Update kb3128031 from their site and from Microsoft Update Catalog 05/04/2017 10:00PM CET.

You’re right. As of 5 pm Central Time (US), the download links in the KB article are working.

I have ignored these new non-security Office updates since they were released a couple of days ago. However, I just did a fresh check for WU on a Win 7 box (with Office 2010) and KB3128031 is still offered to me. Strange. Maybe a case of “the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.”

Doesn’t seem pulled to me

 

the “Error 404: We’re sorry, this download is no longer available.” messege is an issue or a problem in the download center server, happens from time to time
it’s not related to this office update or any other one

Can you describe (or link to a description of) what’s wrong because of the patch? This?

I have Office 2010 with the May Updates in – which included KB3128031 – and am not experiencing obvious problems with Excel, but I might not have any workbooks with that particular issue.

Noel, The link you attached describes the presumed problem with KB3128031 I am trying to avoid. I haven’t yet installed it and have it hidden for the time being. I am trying to determine if it is now safe to install. Nigel

The update is now downloadable.

I installed it on 5/13/17 and have had no problems although. like Noel, I may not have any workbooks with the problem.
