Tried my Outlook mail account an hour or so ago and it was down (authentication server issue)

Just checked it now, and it’s intermittent..jeez that’s all I need now.

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

Outlook won’t connect with my live.com eMail box as of a little while ago.

If they can’t get you with updates, they can get you with outages.

Feeling like focusing on Microsoft today? No? Too bad.

My son is on spring break this week.  He finished his morning chores and wanted to play on his XBox today . . .   and it’s refusing to log his account in.  Once we forced the console offline, it allowed him into his local saved account.  Odd that it did not revert to allow that like the PC would/does.

My customers are reporting very mixed results.  Some of them on Office 365 Business are having issues logging into the web facing versions of their stuff:  Word online, Onedrive, Outlook etc.  But it’s not consistent at all.

My customers on Office 365 E plans seem to be doing fine . . .

      EDIT:

      More info for those interested.

First:  all our family accounts just started working again in the last few minutes.

Admin login to Office 365 for Business and Outlook accounts on portal.office.com show massive red X status outages for OneDrive, Outlook.

Admin login to the same for Enterprise plans show NO outages, and they seem to be working fine.  OneDrive for business is good, email is good, etc. Green check marks down the entire row (except for low level problems with Team – ongoing since March 15.)

I learned something today that I had suspected before.  The E plans are on a different server farm entirely – including (apparently) authentication.

I logged into my Outlook account for e-mail this morning about 05:00 CDT with no problems at all. Just got on again about 15 minutes ago, AGAIN, no problems. Guess I’m just lucky.

Thanks to all for the tips and help in the past.

same here with my Hotmail account (already converted to a Microsoft Account a few years ago) on Outlook.com – working without problems.

I was unable to access my Outlook.com email for a while, I had one person send me an email to my Outlook.com address that bounced during the outage.

I have been arguing for a long time that heavy dependence on the cloud will come to bite on the derriere. The latest Amazon outage, now MS and they’re hardly alone.

Together with the IoT security problems and the massive account breakins the future does not look bright.

I agree 100%. But, I got bit in the butt this morning. I can not access my Hotmail account right now. It says “Server busy. Try again later”. Looks to me like at MS the lights are on, but nobody is home.

Noticed yesterday my iPhone mail wasn’t pushing Outlook mail but never showed error? Was able to sign in on web browser just fine. But had no new mail until later in afternoon. So I was obviously affected somewhat. Did not experience issues happening to some couple weeks ago. Outlook in general has been pretty reliable for me.

I saw the problem with the live.com eMail servers resolved about half an hour after it started yesterday.

What hits all the Microsoft services at once like that? A coordinated attack from abroad? Windows Updates?

Ah, maybe it was just Windows 10 machines at MS having to install updates and restart :).
