Hi All – I just wondered if I’m the only one getting this, or if anyone can advise how I can resolve the issue …

If I click on a Microsoft KB article link such as this one using Microsoft Edge:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4089848/windows-10-update-kb4089848

… when the page loads, I see a Microsoft Banner at the top, a “Microsoft support” blue strip, and then the “support”, “security” and “contact us” columns at the footer of the page. There’s no actual page body showing the KB article itself.

However, if I type the same URL into Explorer or Chrome, I see all of the above, plus the missing page content.

All other pages I browse on the web, using Edge, appear to render OK. It’s just (ironically) Microsoft that doesn’t. The only add-on I use for Edge is AdBlocker, which is disabled for Microsoft anyway.

Welcoming all comments on this 🙂

    Best,

    Marc

If you can see the section “How to get this update” at the bottom of the page, there is a link to the MS Catalog. Once you get to the Catalog, click on the title of the update (not “download”) then in the popup box click on “More Information” it will get you to the MS page you are looking for. Otherwise, use the Catalog and type in the KB number in the search box.

Nope, can’t see that. Take a look at the screenshots I’ve provided – the question is more about Edge than it is about the KB specifically. As you can see, the IE version loads the page correctly. The Edge version completely skips all relevant content, so that there is nothing of any relevance to the KB article at all on the page. The main page body has been stripped out.

Then that makes it easy. Stop using Edge. That is why the marketshare for it is so low. Even IE is better, but certainly Chrome and Firefox (and any other browser). 🙂

Ah yes, it’s the Tommy Cooper style of tech support : Guy goes to the Dr and says “it hurts when I do this”. Dr says : “Don’t do that.”
It would be nice to understand what’s going on here, or at least to confirm I’m not the only one suffering the issue, as per the query of my original post.

      What is why?

Those pages display fine for me in Edge on several computers.

I have to use IE, Chrome and Firefox at times (to solve other people’s issues) but I can’t think of anything that makes them better than Edge. It gets updates more often. How long since you tried it?

Thanks for checking that – it’s been happening for months now. I just tried it again and got exactly the same result of missing main page body content. Weird.

Much appreciated – if anyone has any thoughts on what could be the cause of one user’s version of Edge being OK, and another being problematic in this way, that would be interesting.

        Thanks,

        Marc

Ah – no I didn’t. Thank you for that. Yes, it’s exactly the same problem. Apologies for double-posting.
