If you use the uBlock Origin extension in Google Chrome or Edge, you should probably start looking for alternative browsers or extensions..

The latest Edge Canary version started disabling Manifest V2-based extensions with the following message: “This extension is no longer supported. Microsoft Edge recommends that you remove it.”..

uBlock Origin Lite works in most recent Chrome on Chromebook with latest update. That’s the only platform on which I use Chrome so can’t speak to others.

      From Julian Picalausa at Vivaldi:

“So, to the best of my reckoning, I can say that it looks very likely that the Vivaldi Ad Blocker won’t suffer any adverse effects from the Manifest V3 changes. And, if it does, there should be relatively simple ways to fix it.”

When MS takes my uBlock origin, is AdBlocker Ultimate safe to use?
Found it in the MS Store.

      Windows 11 Pro
      Version 23H2
      OS build 22631.5335

Users may experience some loss in functionality. From ABU:

“One major limitation of MV3 is that extensions will no longer be able to download filter lists. These filter lists, which are used for adblocking, will now come pre-installed with the extension. This means that the adblocking functionality will now be dependent on how often the extension is updated with the latest filters.”

You can get around the filter list limitation by downloading ad filter lists and putting them in your c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc file. You’ll need to edit the file as admin, and download updated lists every so often.

Another solution is setting up a pie hole DHCP server to block ads. It’s not that hard (you can use an old PC or Raspberry Pie). Lots of instructions on the web for that.

How long do we have? Updated Edge today & most excellent original Ublock O still works!

This seems to be a bug. I can still use ublock origin and don’t see this message now.
