Seems like Microsoft’s not-so-subtle way of pushing everyone on to the pay-in-perpetuity model.  Good for them, not so good for most users.  Meanwhile, a majority of users don’t even use all of the “features” that were included in Office 2003.  I bought Office 2019 only because I did NOT want to pay forever for Office.

I totally agree. I have Office 2010 and will continue using it for as long as I can. I only need basic Word and Excel and don’t use any macros. I have zero interest in any program that requires me to pay a subscription every month. If I replaced my 2010 with the latest MS Office version requiring a monthly subscription, I would pretty quickly pay out more than I did one-time for 2010 and will not get greater or better functionality in terms of what I really need. If the day comes when I need to move on to something else, it will be something that is not Microsoft.
