The company recently updated our Office 2000 to SP 3 and now we are all getting this message when we run Access or Excel automated procedures that send objects by email… Outlook gives us a message that says something like “… is trying to send an attachment… could be a virus… Click Yes to send”… (Sorry… I didn’t write down the wording… I will if it will help… )

Has anyone else seen this?… Is there a way to turn this off??… Some option I don’t know about? It’s very time consuming… One of my co-workers sends 30 emails or more every night to head office and now he has to sit at his desk and confirm each and every one….

Any help would be appreciated… thankyou

This is the Outlook security update at work. One way around it is to use an Extended MAPI API and rewrite all your macros. Some folks have had good luck with a product called ClickYes (I think) that can be called by your macros to click the yes for you. (See slipstick.com utilites.) But you can’t turn it off.

There is no way to get rid of this annoyance entirely, but you can do something about it.

ClickYes is a tiny free program that sits in the notification area (system tray) of the task bar, and clicks Yes for you automatically.

Outlook Redemption is a COM add-in that uses Extended MAPI; you will have to adapt your code to use it (extensive examples are provided on the site). Redemption is free for development use; you need a licence if you want to distribute it.

If you are using Outlook with Exchange Server, the Exchange administrator can set customized security policies. See Administrative Options for the Outlook E-mail Security Update.
