Can I `merge’ the four tables in the attached document file into one table? I would like to know if it is possible and if so how.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish — you want one big table, or you want to merge the “data” that will inhabit the blank cells to be collated in some manner?

Ordinarily you can join tables by deleting intervening paragraphs. However, in Print Layout view, it is difficult to understand how this is possible. Switch to Normal view and you will see that there are a lot of paragraphs between the tables. The difference is caused by “floating” the tables, or turning on text wrapping. The first step is to turn that off. Click in each table, open Table>Table Properties, and click the None option for “Text wrapping.” Then you can remove the unnecessary breaks.

My thanks for your quick response and solution. Yes one table was my aim and my tables are now all joined up. I had never before realised the difference between Normal and Print View and I have been using Word for some 14 years!
