There are many posts and responses on this subject over the past year, but I can’t tell if there is an actual solution.  Please advise.  My situation – I have 4 Dell laptops I updated from windows 10 to 11-23H2 using an ISO disk to do a total install.  2 of them are fine and two of them have memory integrity turned off.  They are the older machines with more applications on them than the ones that don’t have the issue.  I tracked down and deleted several incompatible drivers on each machine.  After that both machines still won’t turn memory integrity on due to incompatible drivers but it doesn’t list any.  Several people have recommended entering or updating a registry key which causes the memory integrity button to go the “on” state but leaves it grayed out saying only the administrator can change – this didn’t look right as I am the administrator so I deleted the newly added key.  Note all of my machines are on Window Home not Window Pro.  So has there been an accepted final fix for this situation?

I also had problems with older Dells. The only thing that consistently worked was to do a clean install with absoulty nothing attached to the laptop. Immediatly turn on Memory Integerty then start loading sofrware and attaching external devices.

To test this method FIRST make an Image backup of your main drive and a Recovery Boot USB for the software you use to do the image. That way if it doesn’t work you can easily revert to your previous setup. I recommend Macrium Reflect Free if you don’t already have an imaging program.

thanks for the reply. a couple items. the age of the Dell computer doesn’t seem to be the factor as much as how many applications are installed. my 2 Dell laptops that don’t have the problem are older than the ones that do, but have many fewer apps on them because they are only used for special purposes. also note that posts on the Microsoft forums seem to indicate that the problem goes away with 11-24H2, so maybe when patch watch gives the OK for that version this will be moot. in the meantime I think I’ll try just reinstalling 11-23H2 from the ISO now that I’ve deleted the offending drivers.

Memory Integrity requires a CPU that supports nested virtualization, not all CPU’s do, and, even if it does, it must be enabled in the BIOS.

So maybe that’s the difference between your laptops?

To check whether it’s available and enabled, press WinKey+R, enter msinfo32 and press Enter.

Whether it’s available and enabled will be shown at the bottom of the right-hand side.

Running msinfo32 I get: Hyper-V – Virtualization Enabled in Firmware Yes
        so that is OK

Reinstalling 11-23H2 from ISO after deleting offending drivers still does not allow me to turn on memory integrity even though there are no drivers listed as incompatible. I guess I’ll just wait for OK to install 11-24H2 from patch watch and see if problem goes away as reported in some Microsoft forums.
