Hello.

I’m running Access 97 under Windows 2000 professional. Using certain databases I regularly (i.e. almost always) get an error when opening most reports. It doesn’t matter whether I open them in preview or design mode – I still get the error.

The error is “The instrucion “0x77fca2a2” referenced memory at “0xfffffff8″. The memory could not be ‘read'”. Sometimes the locations change slightly, but the message is always the same. I’ve seen this problem posted a number of times on usenet (so at least I’m not alone), but I haven’t seen a solution posted there.

    Any ideas…?

    Thanks,

    Simon.

See if the Microsoft knowlegebase article Error Using Code to Open Non-Default Instance of Form [Q201962] helps. It deals with the error you reported occurring
When you use code behind a command button to open a non-default instance of a form, a fatal error may result if the form being opened contains a list box or combo box that is populated by using a function instead of a value list, field list, or table/query.
