One of the things that I DO like about the new Lounge software is that I can see a member’s number.

I am surprised by them. I would have thought that Hans would have a lower number, and then I see the GWhitfield is no. 9!!

    (No Beatles comments, eh?)

Numbers are assigned sequentially – those who joined in December 2000 have the lowest numbers: Eileen (who built that incarnation of the Lounge), Lex, Leif etc.
I joined in 2002, so my number isn’t very low.

And [post=”126963″]Hans’ first post 126963[/post] remains unanswered! You’d think he would have quit the Lounge in disgust by now.

So, has anyone gotten curious and sought out the answer to: who is member number uno?

You will also need to remember that “The Lounge” was lost at one point, and Eileen had to rebuild it from her OLD personal backup. All of the Threads were lost and most of the user accounts.

So at one time some of us had different numbers. I was NOT number 34 when I first joined in the 90’s.

        Interesting stuff.

It is all a bit like oral history. As a newer Lounger I had no idea about the history or beginnings of it. It is good to find out what people remember about their early days.

Our jogging club is like that. There are a few people around who were there in ‘the beginning’ and the constant retelling of the stories are an excellent way to involve newer members and give them a sense of community.

I was definitely not around in “the beginning”. People like Dave, Charlotte and others had been around MUCH longer than me.

One day the old lounge disappeared. And with it, a huge deposirotory of knowledge.

The computer which was the server apparently got lost.

It took me a few weeks of checking about what happened to the old lounge before I found it again.

I just lucked out with a low number 🙂

          And also of spelling!

If you just hover over your name in your post, you’ll see your user number in the information at the bottom of the browser window. If you click on your name, you’ll see your user number in the address bar at the top of the browser window.
