posted in an obviously wrong place in hopes that @SB will put it in the correct place. I did not see a comment in forums for it.

“The other day Brian wrote an article about how Social media is killing our kids. I think its damaging us too.”

I am old enough to remember when TV first appeared. I remember well that when I went to school, kids would be talking about what happened on the latest serial and wondering what would happen next. This was where their minds were going – being pulled/directed by hollywood producers/writers. I think social media is just continuing that. I doubt we will ever learn to turn it off and just think for ourselves. Sad!

I grew up in the Hollywood era and have a hard time relating it as similar to today’s social media frenzy. I think I understand what you’re pointing out in the way of pulling in viewers for the soaps and all the drama. But it was entertainment and the story belonged to the screen writers along with their entourage of actors, and it sparked a fun conversation between our peers what we thought would happen next. And specifically “Dallas”, who shot JR?! It never got political and there wasn’t any bullying amongst us. It was actually bringing viewers together and the bets were on. Hollywood produces a wide array of production and drama. But it puts perspective within a group of those who are entertained and amongst the masses of a love for the “silver screen”. Reality TV is another story, not a personal preference of mine, and that channel isn’t dialed in at our house.

Social Media takes a back seat with our family. It’s a conglomerate of entertainment gone totally mad and out of control with a focus on negative influence and addiction. Participants are at center stage with this crazy fixation and thus a bully is born every minute. Not enough people behind the wheel with humble instincts or imagination, and sadly money takes precedence, that’s the pathetic path we are on. It’s an advertiser’s dream venue. But we all have a choice. Log In or Log Off.

      Game of Thrones
      House of the Dragon
      Acolyte
      76 episodes of Qin Dynasty
      etc

A great deal of time and money is being progressively put into creating media that people will get involved in. Many offshoots in the works. We can make lots of money off this, it doesn’t matter how bad the writing is, but Above all, we do not want people to think about real things/events/people, or at least only fleetingly.
