Hi loungers…. over at my brother’s last night to look at pop up message on his ancient laptop (7 yrs old) [see att] which appears at random and will not delete. What is it please, can it be stopped from appearing & when it does how can it be deleted??? Thankfully it is not “On Top” all the time but is stilla niusance. Regards Dave.

ps. Rummaging around the web recently I stumbled on THIS song by the one and only Barabara S & as it summed up this web site in some way (where people who need people) can find them, I thought just now -being a time when saying “Thank you” is timely – that I thought I would paste the link and let the lyrics say it for me. Season’s Greetings all.

Does this happen in Microsoft Word? You posted this question in the Word Processing forum…

Sorry if I posted it in the wrong forum…… could not ascertain where else to post it. Can’t remember what he was doing when it appeared on screen…. I think he was trying to access the net. He seems to think the computer engineer who set up his m/c infered it relates to the little green lights that are located along the top of his keyboard. Otherwise, short of going over to look at it again I’m sorry I can’t offer any further info about the issue. Thanks Dave..

Easy Start Button is indeed a program to configure extra keys (buttons) on some keyboards. If your brother would rather not run it, he can try to disable the startup entry for Easy Start Button (esb.exe).

He can download and install the free utility WhatInStartup. This easy-to-use utility shows which programs start automatically, and lets you disable entries if you want to.

Many thanks Hans… will forward your suggestion to him and endeavour to disable it next time I pay him a visit. Cheers as ever & thanks a bunch. Dave.

I moved this thread to “Other Applications” as it had nothing to do with Word (or any word processing application).
