Since I upgraded from Win 98 to Win ME my modem (Lucent winmodem) appears to die whenever it feels like it. I am still connected to the internet but nothing happens when I try to follow links. Then, given a random amount of time, it works again. Any ideas?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 8, 2001 at 5:09 pm #509735Check for a winnie-me patch from your manufacturer, HP had one a while ago. Let Winnie choose your modem, It said I had a “standard modem”, that works and I don’t argue. You could also check your PC Health settings, set that to run at times when you will not be using your modem as it may rob your modem of CPU access it needs to keep your line alive, older systems are quite vulnarible.
