Power management is unable to shut down my monitor or put the system into standby, stating that my Matrox MGA G200 AGP graphics (onboard on my HP Vectra) is preventing it. I have reinstalled the driver: no change. I have downloaded a new Win2k driver from Matrox: power management stopped even trying and screen reduced to VGA standard, so reinstalled Win2k driver.. No help from HP.
I also have a Creative Dxr-3 PCI DVD card with a beta driver from Creative. Although this is not cited as the cause of the problem, could it be? Strangely, I am also using a default monitor setting, with no option of adding a monitor (monitors don’t appear on the list of devices that can be added).
I quite like Win2k so far, but can’t walk away from it; so I am currently largly sticking with Me (dual boot), where everything is working fine (hardware, at least ). Anyone have any ideas?
