I have a customer table with clients, addresses, visitation days and visitation order. The visitation days and visitation order work like this: Juan’s Nacho Shop, Monday, 3 means Juan is visited on Monday and is the 3rd stop.

We maintain a route book with Mapquest printouts from one stop to the next. As we add/delete clients, we have to re-run all the maps. In Access, how can I build a mechanism that pulls driving directions from one stop to the next for each day and adjusts to the customer table automatically?

    Thanks,
    Dashiell

How are you currently getting the maps? It’s a good-sized jump to try to drive a web browser with Access and do it that way – I’m not sure it is even possible. There is a server product that you can use, but I would guess it’s quite expensive.

We run each map individually. Do you have the name of the server product?
        Thanks,

The MapQuest server product is called MapQuest Enterprise V2.0 Server and you can read about it here.

You might look at a product called Microsoft MapPoint 2004. This may work better than trying to fetch some simple MapQuest maps off a web site, which is not a task Access was designed for. According the MapPoint FAQ page:

“MapPoint 2004 is a stand-alone application in Office XP. However, it does enable users to seamlessly import data from Office XP applications such as Access, Excel or the Outlook

Thanks Wendell and Mark. These new programming challenges and twists keep things interesting. Thanks for shedding light and I’ll let you know how things turn out.
