I know I had asked this question earlier for XP or Vista. Is the problem is still present in Win_7?

I map a folder to a drive letter via explorer Map a Network Dirve). But when I log out or restart, I have to access the drive before the map connection “takes hold.

Is there a cure for this?

Most likely, the problem is everything you are starting when the system boots. If your networking components including your firewall are not fully initialized when the drive mappings are initialized you’ll get what you’ve observed.

I have seen it happen sometimes. I don’t worry about it. If it causing a specific problem why don’t you construct a batch file to setup the use names and run it when you want.

This happens to me with a NAS drive connected to my router. If I’m using a wireless connection, it doesn’t validate the user name/password and I have to do it manually. If I use my wired connection, it does. Must be a timing issue.
