Making things blink (Office 2000)

I am new to the lounge, so forgive me if this question has been asked before. I have a ppt presentation that contains a text box I would like to blink on and off. Specifically, I want the text to appear, then blink a few times at least before it starts. It seems a pretty simple thing to want, but I can’t get it to work.

Hello Maureen
This is what I did to try to create the effect that you were looking for.

I created a text box with sample text
Then I copied it four times so I had a list of the same text
Then went to Custom Animation and applied the following
Text 1/Order and Timing Start Animation automatically 00:01
Text2/Order and Timing Start Animation automatically 00:01
Text3/Order and Timing Start Animation automatically 00:01
Text4/Order and Timing Start Animation automatically 00:01

On the Effects tab, under Entry I selected Appear and Hide after animation

Then I tested it in Slide show to test the timings between

Thanks so much; that works perfectly! It seems like there should be a standard choice for blinking in Powerpoint, but I guess not. But your idea does exactly what I want it to do!

This is ridiculous but the forum won’t let me post new today, only replies. Anyhow, what I would like to do is take a tall linear file I received over the internet and display it in powerpoint (would be 4 – 6 slides worth). It contains both text and graphics. Basically it is a text file with Christmas Trees inserted (blinking lights, I assume animated gifs) . The Pastor wants to use it in church. We use PowerPoint 2000 for song slides but he wants more like a cirlcling teleprompter prior to the service. Is there a way to do that in PPT2K? Or something else I could add in?

Could you expand on Circling Teleprompter? I can’t quite visualize what you want.
