• Mailmerge Error (Outlook 2002)

I have a client who is trying to complete a mailmerge and receives the following error message:

“This operation cannot be completed because of dialog or database engine failures. Please try again later”.

I have tried a search of the MSKB but turned up empty handed. I have a feeling it is because she is trying to mailmerge from a Contacts folder within Public Folders, and Outlook just won’t let you do this. Can anyone please confirm whether my guess here is correct, or if I am on totally the wrong track.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I found where the solution can be found – Exchangeadmin.com – but it’s a subscription service. crazy
At least you know there is a solution out there….

        Thanks Leif,

This has certainly been a tough one to find out any information about. That site seems to be the only one out there that shows the exact error message they are receiving. Microsoft do not seem to even acknowledge that this error message exists. shrug

I think I will have to put it down to the fact that they are trying to merge from a Contacts public folder. Unless any Loungers know of some workaround for this (I won’t hold my breath), I will just let them know that they will have to copy the public folder into a temporary contacts folder in their own mailbox.

Thanks for finding that for me Leif, much appreciated. thumbup
