mail merge using access db

we’re using word97 & access97 …
when we try to Mail Merge in Word, using Access database with 44 records, only the initial 3 records are processed …
Check For Errors says that nothing is wrong …
any ideas what might be happening?

Have you checked to ensure that there are no criteria in either word or Access that are limiting the dataset …
Word MailMerge Query Options …
An Access query.
After that I would need more info on the datasource.
Is it a table, a query, if related tables are the relationships correct etc …

thanks for the reply.
it’s a (simple) table. we think there is something odd in *some* of the records; if we remove record 4, then it merges further. altogether, from the 44 (apparently) similar records, 6 won’t load.
all the records include substantial blocks of text (from medical abstracts), so it may take us a while to pin down any offending characters/combinations.
sigh.
