Despite numerous requests. we have yet to receive the owing amount owed on your account.

We have now engaged a specialty collection firm to recover the amount owing owed.

Quite right.  Please forgive the Denisovan (a close relative of the Neanderthal) who works in the collection office <g>.  English isn’t her first language.

Beyond making customized letters (very well laid out in your article) here is a fun one.

For a small local annual event, we had been paying about $250 to have a batch of 200 event tickets printed and individually numbered. The numbers were in a different color ink.

This year we bought Avery name badge stock, same size as the tickets, 6 to a sheet.

We created the ticket text as the ‘form’, and then created an Excel file with just one column, Each row contained a number – the future ticket numbers.

Mail merge let us print the tickets in blue, with the merged numbers in red. The savings was about $225.

Yes — that’s one way to do it.

The Word {SEQ} field code might give you a similar result but SEQ can get ‘interesting’.  Your mail merge approach is easier to understand and more flexible.
