When in Inbox, I can apply a flag to a message (Flag for FollowUp) and set a reminder date & time, and it will pop up the standard reminder window when that date/time arrives.

However, this does not work when I apply the flag and the exact same settings to a message that is in my “Sent” box (like if I want to remind myself to check to see if he answered yet, etc.) It turns on exactly the same, and changes to red when overdue, just like in Inbox, but the reminder box never pops up when the date/time of the flag reminder arrives.
    Any ideas?

NEVER MIND – found my answer (I had searched the forum for “flag”, but found the answer when I searched for “reminder”.) You have answered this one before!

Now — is there a way to turn reminders on as default for any new appointment or task (without having to open the whole appointment window and turn it on each time?)

Amiee — follow the thread of discussion after this post:

Flag for Follow Up reminder does not always work. (2000)

But basically, what it says is that our Microsoft buddies wrote it so that flags ONLY fire from the Inbox — once you move a message to a different folder, the reminders for flags will not fire. The workaround is to make the email a “task” and put the reminder on the task.
