I’m wondering if I build rescue media (RE), will it work on any windows computer. In other words, I’ll have different disk images but using the same rescue media to boot up with. Hope that makes sense.

      Mike,

Yes the rescue media will work on other computers, I do it regularly.

However, that said you may have problems with drivers for peripherals, e.g. mouse, display, etc. When I use my media, created on my desktop,my laptop the displays a much larger page requiring scrolling. It works but is not a pleasure to use. However, since I don’t have to use it often on my Laptop I can see no reason to have a second USB thumb drive just for that one computer.

BTW, I’ve also used it on computers I work on to capture an Image before attempting to fix thorny problems w/o major problems. I have however had some issues with Safe Boot on other’s computers requiring me to disable Safe Boot to get the computer to boot from the USB stick.

May the Forces of good computing be with you!

If the PC has BitLockered disks you must use the MR recovery you created on that machine. You also need to have selected the “add keys to recovery” option when you create the MS recovery.

      cheers, Paul
