Jobs just sit in the que. I also lost my USB virtual port USB002 (USB001 goes to a working old HP photosmart). I have the driver listed. Trouble shoot printer finds no problem.

I noticed MS installed a 2006 printer driver in the last update – suspected.

      How is the printer connected?
Can you plug it into the working USB?
Can you use the printer on another PC?

Open Device Manager (press the Windows key, type device)
Are there any devices not working – a yellow exclamation mark?
      Are the printer shown?

      cheers, Paul

There are no yellow marks and Device Manager no longer shows printers, just printer ques.

The other printers show in the que list but not the Cannon printer.

I would clear out all print jobs waiting in the print queue. I would then go into the old Control Panel / Devices and Printers and totally uninstall every instance of the printer. I would then reboot the computer.

Now download the latest printer install program for your printer from the Canon website, and install it.

In other words, get completely rid of whatever there is now that is related to this printer, and start clean with a new printer setup.

Devices and printers had no instance. Print Management app had a driver – deleted it.

Got the driver from Cannon. Readme says it’s for Win7 but Cannon says it’s for Win10.

Cannon says to unplug USB before installation – did that.

Restart and no Cannon printer. No cannon printer driver in Print Managment. Add new printer – no USB002   Stuck hard.

OK, got confused on the driver install – exe is an extraction only.

So, did it right, setup exe and installation stopped with:

      “cannot recognize the USB connection”

Turned off printer, unplugged USB, used a different USB socket – same problem.

OK so I have a working HP inkjet installed on USB001. I unplugged it and installed the cannon printer specifying  USB001. This reinstalled the cannon driver but installed both printers on USB001. Test print to CAnnon, nope – stuck in que. Plug the HP back in. test print to HP, ok. Test print to cannon -tries to print on HP feeding lots of pages. Remove  Cannon printer on control panel, HP usable but still no cannon printer. If I can get the CAnnon on USB002 (which refuses to exist), I think I’m fixed. Now, how do I do that????

Please try this: go to Settings>Devices>Printers & scanners and click on the plus sign to add a printer. See if the Canon printer shows up, if it does not click on The printer I want isn’t listed.

        1. You can select the first option My Printer is a little older. Help me find it. to see if Windows finds the Canon printer.
        2. Or try adding the Canon as a local printer with manual settings. Create a new port with a local port and locate the correct Canon driver in the list.

Sounds like your printer has gone to silicon heaven. Time to upgrade. 🙂
