I had a user who may have installed some spyware. When he tried to de-install, he lost all his Icons in the “All Programs” windows. Basically, when you click START | All Programs…. it shows an empty window. How can I get that back. When I log on as myself, it is still the same, so I am thinking this is a OS problem and not a Windows Profile issue.

    Thanks

    Chris

Is the PC domain based? Are you logging on with local or domain accounts? What happens when you logon with the builtin administrator account?

It is on the Domain. I logged on as myself and the All Programs windows is still empty. I then rebooted and logged on locally with admin rights. Same thing. I switched to classic view and the All Programs box says “Empty”

Since those links are for the most part just shortcuts in the appropriate folders, I’d say try to restore the ‘Start Menu’ for ‘All Users’ and each individual user from a backup. That’ll probably be the easiest.
