My sons PC died and I had to format and re-install windows 98. The installation seemed to go OK until nearly complete then started asking for files. It seems to have lost the CD drive! Unfortunately I have been unable to find the original driver disk for the drive ( a Philips PCA363CD ). The emergency startup disc supports the CD ok and I was wondering if it possible in some way to extract the drivers from this disk to install the CDROM?

    Many Thanks in advance

      can you boot the computer
if you can look in device manager to see if the drive is there
if it is delete it and reboot
sometimes this will reinstall the windows drivers for the device that isn’t working right
