I’ve used iTunes for a while now and I love the way it organized my Music and I love the whole playlist system, the DJ, and the search system. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a way to make iTunes have a local playlist and share it with other user Accounts. Here’s my situation: There are 3 computers in my house and two of those computers have 3 accounts on them. I want each computer to have a copy of all the music and each account on those computers to share the main playlist (library or whatever it’s called). The alternative I know of is to delete the library each time I want to update it and recopy all the music over then copy the master playlist file.

I do have the music on each computer in a sharable location (a seperate data partition on two of them and a C:Media folder on one) so if it’s possible to just copy the UserMusiciTunes folder from one computer to another and accross the accounts I could set that up.

I’d be willing to switch to another program altogether so long as I can maintain the features I like from iTunes (though I myself will still have to keep iTunes to access the iTunes store).

I use MediaMonkey for all my media needs. You can store the data anywhere, even on the network. The free version does everything you’ll need.

      cheers, Paul

I tried MediaMonkey but it didn’t quite work the way I wanted. I did find another software though that seems to be working called iTunes Library Updater [http://itlu.ownz.ch/wordpress/?page_id=2%5D. I’m still testing this but if it works how I think it does I can combine it with SyncToy to keep all my libraries up to date. The only potential flaw is that it doesn’t seem to have been updated in a while.

While writing this post the program finished and it seems to have added a few files to my library that somehow went missing before.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
