I am the only user of my W2K machine, so I don’t really need to “LOGON”. Does anyone know a way around this pause to logon a user, so that once I turn my machine on it just boots up without this. There must be some sort of override. Any help that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To do this easily I’d encourage you to download TweakUI 2000 (the version that works with all Windows flavors except XP) and install it. There’s a logon tab that you can configure – but if you’d rather edit the registry to accomplish this, letme know and I’ll post the news you need.
Paranoia aside, it is incredibly easy to “auto-logon” in Win2k. Go to the control panel ->open up Users and Passwords -> click on your profile -> then uncheck the box above that says “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” Click apply and OK and a box will come up to type in the exact user name and password of the profile you wish Windows to boot to directly. Click all the appropriate applys and OKs and you are done. Now when you start up Windows will blast right through prompting you for a user name and password. My recommendation is to go back to a normal logon when you go on the road. For those of you wanting to put a little fear in the heart of your annoying young nephew 
visiting with your sister trying to find out what games you may have on your computer a pre-logon warning can be added as follows:
To alter the welcome dialog box, go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon subkey and change the LegalNoticeText value to a string such as This is the corporate ACME server. To set the dialog box’s title bar, change the LegalNoticeCaption value to a string such as Unauthorized access prohibited.
