    How do I unprotect/unlock a document?

      Depends. Does the “lock” include a password? Let’s find out.

      Open the document. Click Tools>Unprotect Document. Were you prompted for a password?

      If not, the document is unprotected. If so, get the password.

        Duh! I look it up in Word Help and, surprise, surprise, there was the answer!! Sorry about the false post – have a great day and thanks for responding so quickly.
