lock up at second window (6 and XP)

Not always, (about 25% of the time) when I am surfing and I open something on a web page and it opens a second window it will lock up. I can do the Ctrl/Alt and stop the process, but that always kicks me completly out and I have to open the browser again.

ANy help?

Whose version of Java are you running? We had some problems with machines that installed Sun’s JRE 1.40_01 as the default for Applets in IE. The behavior was not identical, but might be worth a look.

Do you use any pop-up blocking software?

Regarding the Java suggestion, it can take a long time for Sun’s Java Virtual Machine to load the first time. I never conclude that IE is really dead for at least 60 seconds. (This provides a break to check the latest spam in my mailbox. )
