On any of the Windows 7 (Pro 64-bit) PCs on a local area network (file server running Windows Server 2012), when double-clicking on any file in a sub-folder on a mapped network drive, then closing the file and clicking on the main folder in that same folder tree, the error ‘Location is not available’ is displayed.
The error message is totally misleading, because it states that the path ‘… refers to a location that is unavailable … Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted … and then try again.’
The sequence of double-clicking a file in a sub-folder, closing it and then clicking on the main folder in that same folder tree (but only that folder tree) can be repeated any number of times and that same error message will always be displayed.
I would be grateful for any assistance.
