What I want is code to run at the end of a running PowerPoint show that will open and run a second PowerPoint show and then close the first show.

The second running show will call the first call the first show so that there is a continuous cycle. There is a solution referred to in the Lounge (http://bro.ws/703054L) but this crashes after a few hours, presumably as is it is using up memory with each cycle.

If you are not interested in the reason for the request ignore this paragraph. I work for a small college with four sites. Each site has a continuous PowerPoint display in reception that gives learners college wide information AND site specific information. Currently these shows are controlled by office managers at each site. This has lead to small differences in the information which has irritated senior managers (my bosses). I suggested that two shows be produced and then linked together. Easy I thought, two or three lines of VBA should do it. However I have been unable to find any useful information and therefore throw myself on the mercy of the Lounge.

This is a method that I used several years ago but it just ran as a continous show, over a period of about 20 minutes, so I don’t know how it would work over several hours. You can find it here http://www.awesomebackgrounds.com/powerpointlinking.htm and it is way more than a few lines so it may not be the solution that you are looking for.

One question is why do you want to have 2 shows? My guess is that since they run for a long time, they are quite large. If they have a lot of pictures, have you compressed the pictures? This really reduces the file size and makes the show run a lot smoother. That was the reason I found this technique in the first place and then when I found out how to compress the pictures, I didn’t really need it anymore. Hope this helps.
