Hi all,
Situation:
I am running a macro in access that outputs some querys to excel files we have on our shared drive. I want to use these 5 files as the backbones for a new file that will have links to the separated data and fornat it nicely into a table.
Problem:
From my computer I can not create any links from my Quarterly Issues file to those separated data files. The Quarterly Issues file is where the links should all be summing up the other output files. i always get the error :
The folder ‘C:WINNTProfilesEdwardPersonal[Past Issues by Division.xls]Priority of Open Due’ isn’t accesible. The folder may be located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password.
Stumpers:
The odd thing is if I try to link from another computer on the network there is no problem., the links work how they should. Also in that error message the file (‘C:WINNTProfilesEdwardPersonal[Past Issues by Division.xls]Priority of Open Due’ ) that it says isn’t accessible is not where that file is even located. It is telling me that the file i am linkning to is not accessible but it is checking the wrong place. The files are actually saved in (G:MetricsPast Issues by Division.xls). So excel is looking for a file on my C: when the files that are being linked are actually on the G:. How do i tell excel to stop looking in the wrong place for these files?
After the error message comes up it allows me to search for the file myself and if i map it to the correct file on the G: i get an unable to read file error. It is an endless circle of errors, does anyone have any suggestions to get my output files linked to another file. Why can i do it form other computers, just not mine?
Thank you Ed
