I’m having a weird problem with one particular document. There’s nothing unusual about the document itself, but on some pages, sporadically, lines are missed out between the end of one page and the beginning of the next. In normal view all the text is visible, but in Print Layout view and print preview the text is missing, and when printed the text does not match up to the pages at all!

The document has track changes turned on, and has been edited by several people, all edits accepted, and is now being edited again (with changes stlill turned on). Could this have anything to do with it? Its always the same paragraph that has this problem, but is not anything to do with widow / orphan control as I’ve explicitly turned that off. Moving the document to another computer replicates the problem, but it is not always there – sometimes scrolling up and down will cause it to go away, only to reappear later.

Does anyone have any explanations for this phenomena, or suggestions for a solution?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Does this artcile from Word MVP help?

Thanks – but it isn’t that. The margins are definitely correct, and in any case the problem only occurs on one page.

      Hi Alex:
Just a guess, but are there drawing objects in the document? If so, perhaps the drawing object is in front of the text. I suppose another possibility is document corruption, in which case you might try saving the document as HTML & then back to a Word doc. (You’ll see the option in the dropdown “Files of type” box in the SaveAs dialog box.)
      Cheers,
