Hi this is probably really simple but has me stumped.
I need to enter —– in a word97 document but in its wisdom Word is changing it to a continuous line.

How do i get it to display/print what I want.

    Thanks for your help

Hi everyone, solved the problem by using the insert symbol option.

If you catch it in time, there’s an easy way to reverse ANY automatic formatting which Word inserts for you. Not just “—“, but things like “a@b.c”, “www .b.c”, “1/2”, “teh”, or any of the autocorrect things which Word so helpfully does for you.

As soon as the reformat occurs, press “Ctrl+Z” (or click on the “Undo” button). That will give you the text before Word applied the reformatting.

If you’ve pressed a few keys since you noticed the changed, “Undo” the changes until you get the unchanged text. Then start typing again normally.

I trust this is the right answer.
Go into Tools | Autocorrect, then select the Autoformat as you Type tab.
Clear the tick box for Borders in the Apply as you Type section
      Hope this does it.
