Line-Column Chart Type (2002 SP3)

I am using the Custom Chart Type of Line-Column which has as a default 2 columns and one line. I need to add more columns but everytime I add a row and type data it turns it into a line. Any ideas?

Wait! I found it! I had tried this previously but evidently not correctly. After adding the row I selected the data series, selected Chart Type and column, selected apply to this series and bingo!
I don’t know what I was doing wrong before but it works.
