I like the office wizards help on some new things I try, so I have the settings to have him pop up. However, I type several letters, and do not need the office assistant’s help when writing a letter…but he always pops up.

Qustion:
Is there a way to just turn off the letter wizard?
OR
Using only the keyboard, is there a way , to push the “cancel” or “type without help” button when he appears with his phrase: “It looks like you’re typing a letter…”? I avoid using the mouse when typing and the office assistant doesn’t seem to have any keyboard shortcuts to his options.

The only way I have found is to go to the “Help” menu, click “Show office Assistant” (even though he already is there), then go back to the “Help” menu and click “Hide Office Assistant”.

While this way can be done using the keyboard shortcuts, it requires many keystrokes to accomplish one thing.

Click on Options for the OA. Deselecting “Using Features more effectively” will hold Mr. Clippet at bay.

Hi Rick:

Alt,H,O will toggle the office assistant on & off. You can disable it completely (& still bring it back), but you can’t modify it so it reads your mind (would be nice).

Also,
1. You can open the customize dialog box (right click a blank spot on the toolbar & choose customize).
2. Press the keyboard button.
3. In the left pane, scroll to Window & Help
4. In the right pane, scroll to “HelpShowHide”.
5. Assign a shortcut key to this command.

To turn it off completely, click options on the office assistant. Untick the top checkmark that says use the office asistant.

I can create lots more shortcuts for other things now that I know how to do that.
