I am of the opinion that I need to simplify my update process by learning to use the “new” options. The exception is StartAllBack which I believe was recommended to my by @bbearren and cost me all of $5 if I recall correctly. It allows me to squish my left taskbar icons of which I have ~22, and also has a mod for windows explorer – I do not want to get into the habit of using alternative apps for things like explorer as it will much complicate things when I ask for help. Also, for me, simply not necessary.

Win 11 is finally “good” and has been my sole driver for 2 months now – no Mint, at least for now.

Perhaps some of these comments might only be appropriate for 24H2? YMMV.

It also offers the Windows 11 Explorer Command Bar.

It’s not my preference, but it is readily available.

My storage regimen consists of 21 partitions spread across 7 drives.  Each partition is named to reflect that storage regimen to the extent that I don’t need to search for files, I already know where they are.

I use the Windows 7 Explorer Bar because it suits my needs more than adequately.  It’s just a navigational aid, for the most part.  I don’t need or use Quick Access, so nothing is pinned to it.  I may have occasion from time to time to create a new subfolder, and that’s a one-click effort.  Finding a particular file I want is simply clicking on the > by the appropriate drive, > on the appropriate subfolder, and there it is in the right pane along with the other files that fit in that same category.

I disable Windows Search in Services for the same reason; I know where my files are, and I don’t need to search to find them.

      Ditto.
I have just 2 drives in my PC and 2 external drives.

This is encouraging.  I’m still running Win 10 and have 31 taskbar icons.  I also had a secondary tool bar as well, but ditched it several months ago.

I too love the Windows 7 Explorer Bar and the cascade menu. I get that on my Windows 10 by placing my entire data drive (D:) as a toolbar on the Taskbar and go to any folder or file without opening File Explorer. I also have no icons on my Desktop and only 10 icons on the Taskbar with 3 Toolbars. I rarely use the Start menu. I use keyboard shortcuts to open most of the apps I use.

I don’t use Taskbar Toolbars, but I pin lots of stuff there, and I have plenty of icons on my Desktop, most of which are shortcuts to programs/apps I use daily (or almost) and files that I update daily.  These get shuffled/deleted/added depending on what I’m working on.

I use keyboard shortcuts to open most of the apps I use.

The only keyboard shortcut I use is Win-key+L.
