AskWoody LoungerJuly 11, 2008 at 5:55 am #1116704I’m not having success with this update. The install process failed on my XPMCE laptop, and while it completed on the Bride’s older XP desktop, running the new program on her machine immediately errors. The laptop installation started the uninstall of AA 2007, errored out but left the background services running, so I couldn’t complete the uninstall by any obvious means until I disabled the “aasomething” service through MSConfig.
I have downloaded the complete install, and will get to trying the installation after my employers stop bothering me.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 11, 2008 at 7:38 am #1116716I’m not sure if the grammar here on yours and Hans’ part is evading me or not, but I’ve had this version installed on my Vista OS since June 7 and haven’t had any problems with it. BUT, and this may be a big “but” that I downloaded the whole package from the web site and installed it. I think Hans may be talking about the update that happens from within the program, but I’m not sure. Keep us posted on how you make out John.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 11, 2008 at 8:48 am #1116718Ad-Aware 2008 has been available since the end of May or beginning of June, but until the beginning of this week it was *not* offered when you update from within Ad-Aware 2007. Starting July 7, the built-in update notifies users that a new software version is available. This was how I found out about it. I let the install do its thing and then ran a scan without problems.

Al, sorry about the confusing wording, my problems were with installation of the upgrade to AA 2008 which is now automatically offered through the AA 2007 update service.
The installation of the product from “scratch”, as distinct from the AA 2007 update process, worked fine on the Bride’s machine. I haven’t gotten to loading it on my XP MCE laptop yet.
Edit: the installation of AA 2008 from the “scratch” install file also went fine on the XP MCE laptop.
