For users of windows 8.1, are we now just in idle mode. Cause all the new updates mostly aim towards windows 10 and feeding its spyware. Its been atleast 2 months since i downloaded my last security update i felt safe to install. I still have 25 security updates listed for download on WU and a few are just triggers for windows 10. PC still running fine. I follow your site daily but now the postings are about windows 7 or 10. Has windows 8.1 users sort of felled through the cracks lol

Not really. XP has fallen through the cracks, but most of the comments about Win7 also apply to Win8.1. I try to have separate instructions for Win8.1 when it’s important – say, on the MS-DEFCON warnings.

Ron, I don’t think that the security updates are Windows 10 upgrade related. There have been few identified updates for Windows 7 which are to be avoided if there is no intention to upgrade and they have an equivalent in updates for Windows 8.1. Most of the comments for Windows 7 apply to Windows 8.1 too, the only reason that there are not many references to Windows 8.1 is because the number of the people commenting here using Windows 8.1 is lower than the number of those using Windows 7. There is nothing wrong with Windows 8.1.
