Here’s a really strange problem: Overnight I lose the last record off of one table. Other tables that are related to that table do not lose related records. No other data in any other tables is missing (as far as I can tell so far). Any ideas?

What exactly do you mean by “lose the last record”? How are the other tables related to that one? And where are you seeing this loss, in a query, in the table itself, or in a form or report?

Well, I think I found the problem with this. We found the records with the ID filed edited to another number. Apparently someone opend the form and started typing in a number to search for a record, then realized they were in a live record and went to filter by form, but left the text in the ID field. That made the record “disappear.” Obvioulsy I have to fix that so it doesn’t happen again.

This is one of the reasons to use an AutoNumber field as (meaningless) ID – users can’t edit it.

BTW, if you turn on relational integrity with cascading updates for the relations of the table with other tables, changing the ID in the main table will cause the related field in related tables to change with it.
