Subject edited by HansV – “Word 2000” wasn’t very specific smile

I finally splurged on a big 20″ monitor with 1200×1600 resolution. Is there a way I can have Word display two pages side by side while I am editing and drafting docs? All I’ve found was print preview — and I can’t edit in that mode. Thx.

Select View | Zoom… (you must be in Print Layout view)
Click Many Pages and select the option to view two pages.

You can also type a small percentage in the Zoom box in the toolbar.

This is the way I would do this, only have the required document open. Go to Window, New Window (This will create another window of your document. It does not create a copy!) Then go to Window/Arrange. This will open the doc in 2 separate windows. Arrange the windows as desired by clicking and dragging on the borders of the window.

      Hope this helps

Following up on this idea, if you only have the 2 Word windows open (after creating the new window in Word), you can go to the taskbar & click “tile” & get the windows side by side without any dragging. If you have other windows open, you must minimize them first, or else you’ve tiled all open windows. clever

          Hi Phil

When I add the new window, the only option I get is to arrange all, which opens the docs horizontally across the screen. Unlike Excel, ’tiled’ is not an option. Am I missing out on something here?

Phil didn’t mean the “Arrange All” option in Word’s Window menu, but the “Tile Windows Vertically” option in the context menu that appears if you right-click an empty part of the Windows task bar. As he wrote, you must minimalize or close all non-Word windows first.

Why do you think I knew immediately what you did wrong? Been there, done that. grin

Just a quick comment on the information in the first post:

You definitely CAN edit in Print Preview! When in Print Preview , click on the Magnifier icon to be able to edit the document in Print Preview! On my installation of Word 2000, it’s the icon just to the right of the Printer icon on the Print Preview toolbar.

Sometimes when working with graphics in a Word document, it’s easier to work on placement by editing in the Print Preview mode!
