Laptop has Internet but no manual ip address communication

Hi all

I have a Hp 840 G3 laptop on 21H1 which will connect to the internet but will not connect or ping and ip address such as 8.8.8.8

So I fired up an other test machine same laptop a Hp 840 G3  and all is well with the world on that machine. It is running 21H2 Build 19044.1706

So I up graded the problem machine to 21H2 Build 19044.1706 still same issue. Can not connect via ip address to anywhere?

Steps tried :

I disabled ipsec

Restarted windows connection manager

Any ideas?

What, please, are the means of connection on each box? Wifi? Cabled? Tethered to a phone or USB wifi.

Ok I only had the issue on wired LAN.

After restarting windows connection manager I did a reboot disconnected the LAN and could ping 8.8.8.8 on wifi.

Reconnected the LAN and I can now ping 8.8.8.8 on the LAN so it is working now
