A belated Happy New Year to all.

After reinstalling Windows XP I now have to hit the @ key to get ” and vice versa. I’ve checked my language and keyboard settings in the Control Panel but all seems OK there. I’m probably missing something simple. Any ideas?

    TIA

This sounds like you have a UK keyboard with US keyboard settings, or vice versa.

Can you be a bit more explicit here. Where on your keyboard are the ” and @ keys, and what values have you set for language and keyboard.

        Hi Stuart.

The “key is the shift 2 key and the ” key is the shift ‘ key, ie standard. All other shift operations seem to work as expected. I’ve supplied a screenshot of the settings.

        Thanks

          Hi rob,

          Best wishes for 2008!

What does the Languages tab in the same dialog say?

          Can you try this…

          • Right click the taskbar and from the Toolbars menu select Language
          • Click the down arrow on the Language bar and choose Settings…
          • Compare your display to this one
            [/list]Also please clarify

Is this a UK keyboard with the @ key on the shift ‘, or a US keyboard with the @ key on the shift 2?

Thanks Stuart and Hans for the input. Sorry for the delay in responding – power problems.
I compared my settings with your graphic. Their was an additional US entry which I removed. All is now well and yes, it is a UK keyboard.

            All the best for 2008.
