Keeping Rows together (Excel 2000)

We are creating a report in Excel and would like to control page breaks better.

One thing that I would like to improved on and not sure how. It has to do with the page breaks. In Microsoft word, you have an option to keep paragraphs together when you go print it out. Is there a way in Excel to keep a bunch of rows together when it prints? I can force manual page breaks in using code but that only kind of works.

Any help or suggestion, would be appreciated …

Excel is not like Word, where you insert text and it pushes existing text down, and eventually off the page. It’s best to organize your worksheets into logical units, and take care that these fit on one page (or a series of pages), using manual page breaks to specify where pages begin.

Hans is correct about the way Excel handles page breaks. But it could be possible to create a MACRO using Visual Basic For Applications and the Page Set Up propeties in Excel to have Excel automate the process of putting in page breaks based on the logic placed in the MACRO. However, the macro would take time to create and debug and that time should be considered against how often you spend time with page break issue.

As a comment to TD’s suggestion:
Macros working with determining the page breaks tend to be very slow and the logic to determine need might be very difficult to code, but we could help in this regard if you provided more details on your desires.

Is this something that needs to be done on the fly?
If not, then click on File>Page Setup>Margins and / or View>Page Break View
to make adjustments to the page breaks.

If something “doesn’t quite fit” you can sometimes make it fit on a page
by reducing the margins or by decreasing the print percentage (zoom).
This is similar to the viewing zoom but not to be confused.
For example if you set the print zoom at 75% you will be able to get more
on the same page but everything will be slightly smaller.
You can also decrease the right and left margins, thus widening the print page.
In addition you can set up the page to “Fit on One Page wide”
