I’m using windows 7 x86 sp1 with AMD Athlon 11×4 645 processor. Also using Malwarebites Premium and Avast AV free.  So far I have received only one meltdown/spectre KB update (KB 4056894) last Jan. which I promptly hid thanks to your website. Since then, I’ve gotten the usual net framework patches and the usual monthly rollouts previews (hidden) but nothing else on spectre.  Microsoft did say that they were re-leasing windows 7 AMD patches right? Did I miss out on one? Is KB 4056894 ok to use now? Or should I continue to wait since you are still at defcon 2. Thanks for helping out a 1st time lounge poster.

KB4056894 was the January Monthly Rollup for Win7.  Microsoft later released KB4073578 to fix the problem with AMD machines. The latter is a download from the MS Catalog only, manual install fix. You can also download it from AKB2000003 on this site.

If your intention is to install the Rollup, you should  download and install KB4073578 first. then the Rollup.

Thanks for your reply. I did download KB4073578 successfully. Is is necessary to download KB4056894 monthly rollup for meltdown or spectre protection, or can I leave it hidden?  I have updates set at (check for updates but let me choose to download and install) Trying to get a grasp on all these downloads is mind numbing for a 71 yr old codger.  Thanks. In any case, you will need KB4073578. If you want to skip a Monthly Rollup, it’s no big deal I guess. Feb Monthly Rollup will contain everything in it and more (that’s why it’s a good idea to install KB4073578 first).

Or better still, you can WAIT on all of it till Woody gives his instructions when he changes to DEFCON-3.

We’re seeing a similar report for KB 4074598 on an AMD system:
