    I installed the cumulative update for April, KB 4549951 without incident.  However, the update for the antimalware platform, KB 4052623, failed to install.  In researching the issue I came across an explanation that due to a change in the file path location in the update many downloads were blocked when AppLocker was enabled.  The suggested workaround was to use group policy (I used gpedit.msc) and change the setting to “Allow” for the path:

    %OSDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\*

    I have no experience with group edit and could not find a way to access the path above.  Any suggestions appreciated.

      Why not turn AppLocker off, then install the update and turn AppLocker back on? This has the advantage of confirming the problem is AppLocker.
