I have tried to install these with no luck. The installation goes well but when asked to restart the process of configuring the update hangs at 30%. I have left this for over an hour. Switching off and reboot allows me to revert from the new update. The problem does not seem to only affect me but I haven’t seen a solution. Dell Optilex 755 Intel Core Duo E6550. I have a 2nd older PC also running win 7 which had no problem accepting the update.

KB4015549 is the April 2017 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7. It is checked in the “important updates” list. It is recommended that you hold off installing this Rollup until the DEFCON number is 3 or above.

KB4015552 is the April Preview. It is the non-security portion of May’s Monthly Rollup. It is an UNCHECKED OPTIONAL in the “optional update” list. It is there for professional testers to vet before it is rolled into the Monthly Rollup next month. It is not meant for the general User to install unless he wants to be a Guinea Pig for everyone else. It is never recommended to install a Preview, or for that matter, any update that is UNCHECKED by default.

      Edited to correct Preview month

Many thanks for the response and for pulling my head out of the sand to see what MS Defcon means.
